Detail of stitching exposed on Flyers Glove
The stitching is out-seamed on the Flyer’s Glove.
This construction is appropriate for Pilots. However the
exposed threads will easily abrade and tear when handling
rough surfaces. When the threads tear, the glove comes
apart.

Detail of thumb construction on Light Duty Glove
An inexpensive thumb construction known as the “Wing”
thumb is used on the Light Duty Glove. This type of construction
is suitable when minimal sewing labor cost is most important.
The seams on
the face of the thumb pad cause an obstruction to the
sense of touch and the stitched seam along the thumb base
is exposed to abrasion in the heaviest wear area of the
glove leading to early durability failures.
